Partnerships are crucial for the Northern Beaches Para Surfer Boardriders Inc (NBPSB) to not only exist but also to achieve its ambitious goals of building a national para surfing network.

As a non-profit organization, NBPSB relies on the support of various partners to offer services and activities tailored to the needs of para surfers. The club's reliance on membership fees, donations, sponsorships, and grants highlights the importance of collaboration for its financial stability and the accessibility of its services.

Partnerships enable the club to provide essential services like surfing clinics and workshops, organize competitions, secure accessible facilities, and engage with the wider community.

This collaborative model allows the NBPSB to make a serious impact on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health of its members, as well as positively affecting their families and support crews.

PLANS MOVING FORWARD  ...

The NBPSB plans to use its success as a template to build a network of similar clubs across coastal Australia, increasing accessibility and participation in para surfing nationwide. This strategic plan involves a collaboration with Surfing Australia and disability advocacy groups to develop a national para surfing awareness campaign.

Within the first year of NBPSB a sister Club on the Gold Coast, @goldcoastparasurfer have started to establish a community and Boardriders Committee as well as other areas such as South Coast Adaptive Boardriders and potentially on the West Coast of Australia too. 

The club will also work with Surfing Australia to establish a national para surfing competition structure with regional qualifying events, fostering a sense of community and providing a clear pathway from club level to national and international events.

GRASSROOTS CLUBS BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS ...

At their core, grassroots clubs are about creating a fun and casual community through regular gatherings. By facilitating the development of supportive infrastructure and ensuring long-term sustainability, partnerships help to nurture potential champion para surfers and expand the sport's reach across Australia. The ultimate goal is to build a thriving network of clubs that will increase participation, raise public awareness, and ultimately lead to greater success at the top level of para surfing.

The NBPSB's model of working with various partners—including local boardriders clubs, disability service providers, and government agencies—will be instrumental in creating a strong foundation for this national expansion.
